Seasonal services at Gedling Crematorium

Gedling Crematorium is inviting local people to submit digital photos of their loved ones to be included in slideshows being shown at two Christmas Carol and Memorial Services.

The first service will be on Tuesday 3 December and the second on Tuesday 10 December, both starting at 6pm.

The seasonal services provide valuable opportunities for families and friends to come together and remember their loved ones in the run up to Christmas, a time when people can particularly feel their losses.

The services will include a selection of readings and popular Christmas Carols. Refreshments will be available.

These service will also be an opportunity for guests to be among the first to see the stunning new audio-visual features which have been recently installed in the chapel, which makes Gedling the UK’s most uniquely personal crematorium.

The events are free to attend but in order to help manage numbers, anyone who does want to join in on either of the evenings is being asked to email the crematorium at gedling@westerleighgroup.co.uk to secure your seat.

Anyone who would like a photo of a loved one – whether they passed recently or some time ago - to be included in the memorial slideshow during the service should email it to the same address as above, by Wednesday 20 November, using the heading “Christmas Service Photo Slideshow”.

Gedling Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites across England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

Manager Giulia McDonough said: “Our annual Christmas Carol and Memorial Services offer lovely and meaningful ways to bring people together to reflect and honour their loved ones during the festive season.

“Visitors to the events will be able write messages on memory tags which will be hung on our Christmas tree and can also place Christmas cards into our Letters to Heaven memorial post box.

“We hope that everyone who joins us will find comfort in being able to pay tribute to their loved one during the service whilst being in the company of other people who are in a similar situation.

“Our Christmas Carol and Memorial Services are open for anyone and everyone who lives, works or who is visiting the communities surrounding our crematorium in leading up to Christmas. Everyone is welcome.

“Those who are unable to attend on the night but wish to view the services as a live stream, can do so through Westerleigh Group’s multimedia partner Obitus.

“Just visit https://christmas.obitus.com/, enter the username ‘gedling’ and the password ‘sleigh' for the 3 December event, and the username ‘gedling1’ and password ‘sleigh’ for the 10 December service.

“For those not able to watch it live, or those who attend but who would like to see it again, the services will be available to view online as a ‘watch again’ option, using the same details above, from Thursday 5 December (for the 3 December service) and Thursday 12 December (for the 10 December service), for 28 days, so nobody has to miss out.”
